      Hi folks,

So i have two UPS both have either USB or MGMT card, I tried NUT and APCUPSD but AOCUPSD doesn't work and causes crashes, NUT kinda works over USB but not SNMP and with NUT it takes 30 seconds to detect AC loss and when AC is restored it takes 30 seconds to detect also after 12 hours NUT stops working completely, tried on pfSense, Ubuntu, TrueNAS etc and none works. I contacted the mailing list to NUT and tried what they recommended but still the same problem. Anyone have any ideas? Was looking at PowerCute but no support for BSD. This sucks. I got UPS's and Servers but can't automate the Shutdown in event of a Power failure.

      Regards

@violetdragon I have CyberPower LX1100G with Nut, maybe you could consider that if you're shopping...I have never simulate a power outage; however, I experienced two power cuts since I owned it, that when I realized I needed to remove the printers and just have network related hardware. It was instant though.

Using here an APC UPS connected at USB port of an appliance (SG-3100).
The UPS has a self-test scheduled every 14 days and self-test (UPS on batt) is recognized from pfSense without any issues immediately.
Also "AC return" is recognized immediately (I receive mails for both events).
Running UPS service and Apcupsd, UPS service sometimes stops without any seen reason and needs to be restarted manually, this happens 2 or 3 times a month (or sometimes fewer, its very random). The Apcupsd service was never seen having such an issue.

The appliance is configured for shutdown when battery runtime is dropped to 15%.
Because all "heavy-load" devices power off after 2 minutes of AC outage, pfSense is hopefully one of the last devices going down.

          Regards

I have an APC UPS and APCUPSD works fine here.

PfSense running on Qotom mini PC
i5 CPU, 4 GB memory, 32 GB SSD & 4 Intel Gb Ethernet ports.
            UniFi AC-Lite access point

            I haven't lost my mind. It's around here...somewhere...
