I recently purchased the VP4670 – 6 Port Intel i7 in order to install PfSense onto it and use it as a firewall. I have installed PFSense, and believe I have configured the WAN port and the LAN port correctly, but I am unable to log into it (192.168.1.1) when placed in line between my modem and network. I configured just 2 of the 6 ports.
If there are any guides on installing PFSense onto this or a similar platform, I would be very appreciative of a pointer in the correct direction.
Thank you in advance -

Just a thought, does the WAN side have a public address or the common 192.168.1.0 subnet? If the WAN is in 192.168.1.0/24 that would explain your problem.

@andyrh,
Thanks for the quick view and response -I am using Port1 (igc0) as the WAN port. indicates no IP address assigned to that port. I have set up Port2 (igc1) as the LAN port. Indicates IP v4: 192.168.1.1/24
I connected Port1 to the Modem, and Port 2 directly to my computer; attempted to connect via a browser to the IP address ( both 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.1/24) with no response.

I'm quite sure Andy was asking what ip address (range) your modem would be handing out to the pfSense Wan interface (if set to DHCP).If that by any chance would be the same network as you have selected for Lan, you might have that issue.

Rgr all - The modem IP is 192.168.100.1 - which worked when connected to the ASUS wireless router (192.168.1.1) that did the DHCP before I removed it to install the Protectli with Pfsense in its place.Chip

What ip address does your PC get when connected to Port2 on the protecli ?
What ip address does the ASUS get (on wan) , when connected to your modemHow did you install pfSense on the protecli ?
Did you use screen/keybd ?Can you logon to the pfSense via screen/keybd (console login) ?
Did you install the VGA or Serial pfSense package ?

Sorry for Necro-ing this thread but I have a similar issue with the VP4670. I have installed pfSense 2.6, configured only 2 ports (IGC0 for WAN and IGC1 for LAN) but get no LAN connectivity at all. The device is reporting an external IP on the WAN side but nothing on the LAN. Initially I was connected through a QNAP 10G switch so have removed that and connected directly to port 2 (IGC1) but Im only getting a 169 IP. Is there an obvious configuration that I have missed here?

If it has 6 ports you may be using the wrong NIC. Try running
ifconfig
at the command line and see which NICs show as UP and linked.
