Will apcupsd use a Netgate appliance’s USB port?
The reason I am asking is that I have been having difficulty getting apcupsd to work with an old rack-mount APC Smart-UPS equipped with a Network Management Card (AP9617). Looking at alternatives, while the CyberPower OR700LCDRM1U is an attractive rack-mounted UPS with a mere 1U form factor, its network card upgrade costs almost as much as the UPS itself (yet, it appears to have no more complexity than the much cheaper APC Network Management Cards). So, now I am looking at serial instead of Ethernet communication.
To make any UPS communicate with my Netgate 1100 or 2100 via its serial port, would I connect that to the Netgate’s USB port?
For example, I was able to get my MacBook Pro to communicate with an APC Smart-UPS 1500 (DLA1500RM2U) through its serial port with a cable containing an integrated serial-to-USB converter. This worked rather well. I am wondering, whether this cable could also be used with apcupsd running on a Netgate appliance.

I have an APC UPS connected to the USB port of my SG-1100, using the 940-0127E USB cable that came with the UPS. Communication working with apcupsd.

@anthonys: Is it a USB-A-to-USB-B cable? Or, do you have a USB-A to DB-9 cable?

The 940-0127E cable, which came with my UPS, is USB-A (plugs straight into SG-1100) to RJ-45/50 (plugging straight into the CS650 UPS) cable.

@dominikhoffmann: My Smart-UPS has a USB-B jack. Connecting a standard USB-A-to-USB-B cable to the white USB jack on my Netgate 1100 allows apcupsd to communicate with the UPS.
