      This makes no sense --- been seeing this for 3 days now. I have rebooted modem (unplugged for 20 minutes) and re-plugged then rebooted pfSense. Still seeing this - but Internet and all things in the home are working. Even the DDNS setup for CloudFlare is green and showing a valid address.

      Any Ideas?

        @bearhntr Go to System->Routing

        Edit WAN_DHCP

        Specify a monitoring IP for the WAN. I recommend a DNS server as they'll almost always reply.

        Blank, the default, uses your ISP gateway which is likely blocking the regular pings as a DoS attack.

              @rcoleman-netgate

              Should I put an IP Address in there from my ISP, or something like 8.8.8.8 (Google) or maybe 1.1.1.1 (CloudFlare)? or does it really matter?

                @bearhntr Any pingable IP will work. He's suggesting not your ISP router/modem but something further up the chain.

                Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
                When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

                  Precisely. If you get it outside of the ISP's network you can ID the issue as an ISP one because the ISP gateway might still ping when they're seeing a bigger outage.

                    Thank You -- I have set it to 1.1.1.1. (CloudFlare) - and it appears to have made the red go 'bye-byez'
