This is a roller coaster ride but a very fun and entertaining one.
First off I Purchased some low end celeron NUCs (late 2016 model). to play around with.
      Intel® NUC Kit NUC6CAYH ---> link text
Caught me off guard as I was fully expecting them to have an Intel NIC.
But no, they have a freaking Realtek Realtek 8111HN
I'm worried if I will get kicked off the island for even mentiong this here? :)

And thought it was doing perfectly until I set it on a 1GBps Internet connection and started
      doing some basic speedtests.
Had an instant kernel crash & reboot.
      Twice.
Turned off all of the AES-NI options and reboot.
No more crashing, but network performance is terrible, dataflow stops & starts/freezes on speedtests.
      Right after reboot if I do a speed test, "[fib_algo] inet.0 (bsearch4#61) rebuild_fd_flm: switching algo to radix4_lockless"
prints on the console one time.
System seems stable but network performance is obviously bad/broken at this point.
This just happened and this is my very first report.

Any thoughts on what I should try next?
I may try 2.6.0 and compare or go back to the initial Feb_2023 install snapshot and see what it does.

I immediately suspect the Realtek interface but for no other reason than Realtek's bad rap.

I did not noticed this at all for a full day (yesterday) when I had it on a slower 75mbps Internet connection :(

      I'm learning. groan

I feel more like I do now.

It is outright crashing and rebooting.
        I suspect the realtek NIC.
I am going to post a new thread to try and focus on 1.7 with this realtek NIC
and If I should be doing anything with it besides throwing it in the trash.

I feel more like I do now.

@n8lbv If you haven’t installed the actual Realtek driver that needs to be done.

WIth the issues some have with a USB based NIC adapter hard to recommend beyond at least trying it but I’d try if only to confirm the Realtek NIC’s are the issue. And they aren’t expensive. There’s information on using a USB adapter scattered about in this forum. You’d of course would want to try one that is working for others.

If you can I’d be sending the Realtek one’s back for a refund.

I have no issues with the Realtek 2.5gb NIC’s nor the 1gb NIC that is builtin to my Dell 3020 i7 Motherboard. BUT I’m using the Realtek driver. I also have no issues with the Intel i-225 2.5gb NIC’s. Which some folks have issues with.

@jimbob-indiana I'ts doing alright after switching the driver (updated on another thread)
That I created specifically about the driver.
I was not familiar with changing the driver nor was I familiar with how to do it in 2.7.0DEV
            Vs. 2.6.0
