Audio links like Pfsense WhatsApp and Discord not working
-
Hello,
I am a university student trying to improve myself on Pfsense. I installed Pfsense on my old laptop at home via Vmware.
I have 2 modems in my house. One is the Wan side, I connected the internet from turknet directly to the PC and transferred it to Pfsense. I bought a USB Ethernet card and connected it to a different modem as a LAN stand. We can use the internet by connecting to the lan modem, but voice and video conversations cannot be provided in WhatsApp.
I can't participate in any audio or video activity via Discord.
After connecting to RTC, it gives a line disconnected discord error.

pfBlockerNG is installed on pfsense but it is not active. Even though I uninstalled it, the problem did not go away. My firewall configuration is as follows.
WAN: https://prnt.sc/CFR7msrUAXR-
LAN: https://prnt.sc/JvYoorktsJZjI've been struggling with the problem for a few days and couldn't solve it. I was using Mikrotik, I switched to Pfsense, I don't want to go back to Mikrotik.
Captive portal is on active Pfsense.
Thank you for your help in advance.

- Do you have pfBlockerNG installed?
- Are you running Squid Proxy? If so, transparent mode?
- Are you running Snort or Suricata?
-
pfBlockerNG Installed but not active.
Squid Proxy is not installed on the system.
It is not installed in the modules you specified in option 3. I can't find the solution.

We might need a diagram here if you can generate one.
What exactly do you mean by 'modem'? Having a modem on WAN and LAN doesn't make much sense. Perhaps you mean router? Like an ISP router on the WAN side and another router as an access point on LAN.
You have an allow all rule on WAN which you wouldn't normally want. You also have pass rules from private IPs. Is the WAN side a private subnet?
Does audio work if disable captive portal?

When you asked if Captive Portal was running when it was closed, I closed it and the problem was solved.
I have never closed the captive portal. So what setting do I need to make in Captive Portal? There is no problem with normal internet usage.

You're using pfSense 2.6.0, right ?
When 2.6.0 came out, it had a nasty bug : only TCP was passed, UDP and ICMP didn't work when the captive portal was active.
You probably need to install the system patches package and apply the patches. -
/etc/version
In the above file it says 2.6.0-RELEASE. I couldn't view any updates on the Update page.

What would you suggest I do?

Install the System Patch package.
Apply all the recommended patches for 2.6.

Thank you very much. Upgrading to version 2.6 fixed the problem. It's working flawlessly now. Thank you again.
