Some times with updates I have to power off….

I’m not saying this is a PFSense thing. I don’t understand why it happens. I have 2.5gb Realtek NIC. When I update the DEV version when this happens, it’ll boot AND it finds the Realtek NIC’s. Which it isn’t supposed to do without reading the right config file to load the Realtek OEM driver.
Dell 3020 with an i7.
But it does NOT find my Intel 2.5gb NIC’s.
The boot sequence takes me to the configure VLAN’s now question. That’s when I know I need to power off.
If it’s JUST my older PC, how in the world does PFSense find the Realtek NIC’s?
It’s nice to know I’m not having to reload the config, etc. Cured fully with full power off. Anything I can change? Something in the BIOS? I’m using ZFS.

The Realtek driver and loader values should survive across a minor upgrade like that.
The fact the Intel NICs are lost certainly isn't expected. It sounds like something low level if a power cycle brings them back. When they are lost do you see any errors in the boot log when the driver tries to attach? If they are not detected at all that seems like a PCIe error somewhere.
