CE 2.7.devel > 23.01 Stable
-
I hit an issue with a device (HP EliteDesk 800 G4) that was fixed in FreeBSD 13.1, nothing to do with pfSense. In order to move my 23.01 pfPlus installation to the new device, I needed to install 2.7-devel to get to BSD14. It works like a champ, booted right past the bootloader issue I was hitting.
I restored my backup XML, registered a new Home/Lab key, but when I go to upgrade, it still shows as CE and that things are up to date, even on the pf+ branch.
Wasn't sure if this was a bug/known issue, or working as intended.
Either way, since 23.01 is also on BSD14, what would be the easiest way for me to get back to 23.01-stable? Both Current and Latest versions on System > Update show as:
2.7.0.a.20230510.0600

@datacenterdude 2.7 has a later PHP. I believe per other posts you can upgrade from the Feb. 15 version of 2.7 to Plus.

Yes, use the Feb 15th snap to make it easier. If you have to though it can be done but you will need to do a full forced pkg reinstall after the upgrade to make it downgrade all the php packages.
Or wait for 23.05 to be released when it should be possible to upgrade from any CE version.

@stephenw10 2.7 has been great. It feels like its about to be a released version. I'm waiting to go to Plus in part because I don't think will need to wait that long. I have no issues with 2.7 other than self inflicted wounds.

I would stay aware to march this road! It is related to the kernel modules (amount). With 2.7 Devel you get actual
only something around of ~80 kernel modules, but with
23.05 RC you will get back fully 822 modules and so it
might be the better choice to walk along with;
2.6 > 22.50 > 23.01 > and perhaps 23.05 RCI was doing a fresh install of 2.6 and then I only put in the
token for pfSense Plus and set up the WAN gateway as the default GW and upgraded until the last 23.05 RC was reached. For sure you may be stay and hold on 23.01 release if you wish.
