OpenLDAP user auth

Hi

When I try LDAP OTHER auth option from the User Manager and hit save and test, I get the following error:

Attempting connection to ldaps://gorillapark-directory.kartaca.net/ OK
Attempting bind to ldaps://gorillapark-directory.kartaca.net/ failed
Attempting to fetch Organizational Units from ldaps://gorillapark-directory.kartaca.net/ failed

Also when logging in, I get the following error:
Warning: ldap_bind(): Unable to bind to server: Can not contact ldap server in /etc/inc/auth.inc on line 673.

I know the ldap server is working and the user I specified can bind and search the ldap tree. Is there something I must install? Also what is the form of LDAP Binding username?  What is the purpose of LDAP Authentication container ?
