      hi!
      i was looking for a netgate 1100, but i found a xg7100, for about 200 usd.
      is the xg7100 a better choice?

      all i want it to use openvpn for for torrents, is the xg7100 overkill?
      i thougt it was a good price?

      the xg7100 seems to be a bit old, but is there any problem to get the latest software updates for pfsense?

        @tjabas $200 for the 7100? That's a great price -- they listed for $800-$1600 depending on how it was spec'd out.

            @tjabas So that's a base model -- the eMMC is a 32G chip and the base RAM is 8G.

              @rcoleman-netgate

              so ive been running pfsense for many years now and i havent been able to update the software for many years now because of the poor specs of the pc im running it on, can i just install the backup file on this xg7100 and im up and running or do i get problems?

              and is it a good buy even if the specs was just budget?

                I own two. One is my edge at home and handles about 20 different VPNs (IPsec and WG) and the other is in my datacenter and runs my rack there. 1Gbps FTTP. No sweat.

                The on-board switch will be an issue out of the gate. I recommend reading up on https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/solutions/xg-7100/switch-overview.html. It's not impossible to learn - but the direct import will fail.

                      too bad i noticed this xg7100 now, a couple of weeks ago i ordered a china box: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004102703443.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.29.21ef1802cWTNvd

                      i was planning to run pfsense on that one, but do you think that the xg7100 will perform better?

                        @tjabas I can only comment on experience I have had with our hardware, not on name-less systems that blatantly violate the license of pfSense:

                        3, We will pre-install pfsense 2.7 on every Mini PC, if you need another system or don't install any system, please message us.

                        1. If you need it to work with prior to pfsense 2.6, Pls choose the i225-V version.

                          ok, thank you for your help, i might get that xg7100, the olny thing that scares me is these switch lagg ports, it seems quite difficult to get it right.
                          all i want is all data out from eth1, and after that one i have a switch for all my hardware/computers, that is how i run i today.
