After a 23.01/23.05 upgrade i have issues with my Eaton 5S UPS where it can run fine in NUT - sometimes for days, and then suddenly NUT no longer shows UPS info.
It seems there is something happening that the driver does not like, because suddenly I get this reported in the system log:
pid 19829 (usbhid-ups), jid 0, uid 316: exited on signal 11
After that I get the following every 5 - 10 sec in the log:
Poll UPS [eaton5sc] failed - Driver not connected
I then need to diable UPS monitoring and enable UPSHID monitoring again to get it going. Service restart is not enough.
Any idea’s what going on, or how I can increase logging to know whats happening? On 22.05 it would once in a while disconnect very briefly, but then resume.
That seemed to be an issue with the combination of my SG-2100 and the Eaton 5S as it would be a 100% stable on my SG-6100. I have tried a different USB cable to no use. -
@keyser There is a long discussion of this in the NUT support thread.

It's a known issue it started in 23.01, I think they are working on a fix for it. A work in progress.

@JonathanLee said in NUT: After 23.05 usbhid exits randomly:

Thanks, I’ll see if I can find a firmware update for my Eaton UPS, and if not I’ll try the interrupts only as a stop gap measure until a workaround is made in NUT :-)

@keyser I posted a build of the nut usb driver done from nut-devel (pre release) which addresses the issue. You can find it later in the thread. Note that it is for intel/amd 64 bit, and does not work on arm.
