      Running N5105 Topton router w/ i226v interfaces.

      I just rebuilt my PFSense box from running Proxmox to a bare metal PFSense install, going from 2.7 > 23.01 because I'm running one of the aliexpress i226v boxes and can't go from 2.6. The install went perfectly, it took the backup just fine, but I saw 23.05 was available so I tried to install it and got an error message of:

      ERROR: Type 1, File: /etc/inc/interfaces.inc, Line: 4244, Message: Uncaught Error: Undefined Constant "IFF_PPROMISC" in /etc/inc/interfaces.inc:4244

      and it won't then startup my interfaces. I didn't want to go through the effort to troubleshoot while my router (and therefore site) were down, so I just rebuilt it as 2.7 and upgraded to 23.01, but now I'm a bit stuck. Does anyone know what might have caused that issue and what I might do to fix it for whenever I try to upgrade? I tried to upgrade BandwidthD because I thought it might be causing the issue but got an alert that I can't upgrade it because it uses a new PHP version so I need to upgrade to 23.05 first, but obviously I'm nervous about moving forward with that now.

      I had submitted this as a bug, but Netgate says it's not, so hoping someone else has seen this issue and has an idea on a solution...

        @rmeskill I got this one from Topton
        https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004861549337.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.710d38datzOIAr&mp=1
        and it runs 23.05 without errors.

          I encounter the same issue as above and now I'm unable to use my PFSense box. How to re-install to 23.05?

            @bluebee Did you also go the way 2.7 - > 23.01 - > 23.05?
            I installed from 2.6 up to 23.05 without 2.7 using usb adapters, because of the missing netcard drivers.
            It runs great - if it's the same machine from Topton.
            It's really no fun installing Plus on current hardware. Cannot understand why Netgate does not have images for plus versions. They should see that customers (even if home is free) do have problems.
            If I wasn't running pfsense "forever" I would go for opnsense, simply because I can install it.

              @rmeskill current 2.7 to 23.01 is going backwards. IIRC the Feb 15 build of 2.7 can upgrade.

              Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
              When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

                @SteveITS Well right now I'm on 23.01 and was trying to go to 23.05. I'm beginning to wonder if it was an issue with an installed package, so I think when I get a chance to upgrade again I'll uninstall all packages, try the upgrade, and reinstall them if it works. Just sucks that if it fails I have to reinstall 2.7 and then go to 23.01 again. And since I haven't isolated what caused the issue in the upgrade from 23.01>23.05 I don't have any faith it won't happen again...

                  Mmm, the promiscuous setting is new in 23.05. I would guess something failed to upgrade resulting in a mismatch somewhere.
