Upgrade Failure from 23.01 to 23.05 / SSL Error when Upgrading from CLI

I have 23.01 running on an SG-3100 and selected upgrade to 23.05. While upgrading the UI froze and eventually crashed with the following error when attempting to load.

Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function gettext() in /usr/local/www/index.php:36 Stack trace: #0 {main} thrown in /usr/local/www/index.php on line 36 

If it run pfSense-upgrade from the command line it throws certificate validation errors and ultimately states the following. Appreciate the assistance.

From what I have seen on other posts I'm guessing my course of action may be to get the 23.01 image to reinstall and recover from backup.

Any other suggestions on how to proceed? Thank you.
