Setup assistance SG1100
-
Hi All,
I am trying to setup Netgate SG-1100
Do I have to connect the SG-1100 directly to my fiber port from the ISP or can I connect it to a port on the the router provided from my ISP?
I do not have a static IP provided by my ISP
If I connect the sg-1100 to my router and setup the wan as DHCP. Why can I not access the internet. I can ping the google DNS 8.8.8.8 but have not access to the internet to open a web site?
Does the isp router and the SG-1100 have to be on the same IP range?
Thanks in advance

You can probably connect it either directly or behind another router. It depends how the ISP is providing the connection to their router.
If you do connect it behind another router you must make sure there are no subnet conflicts. If the ISP router is using 192.168.1.0/24 on it's LAN that conflicts with the default pfSense LAN subnet so one of them must change, it's usually easier to change pfSense.
When you can ping 8.8.8.8 where are you testing that? can you ping anything by url, like google.com for example?
