      I have a fully functional, in-service SG-1100. I purchased a second SG-1100 to have as a backup spare.
To make a backup unit, would it be correct to simply perform an "All" backup from the in-service unit and perform a "Restore backup" to the new unit?
I presume I should first ensure both units are running the same software version (currently 22.05-RELEASE).
Other than that, are there any other steps I should take?

@192-168-1-0 in general you can restore a config to the same or newer pfSense. (https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/backup/restore-different-version.html)

Re restore, see the section on SSH keys on https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/backup/configuration.html

Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to reboot, or more depending on packages, and device or disk speed.
