          Hummm.
Am I about to gain 4 hours ?
          I have a :

          root@ns311465:/etc/network# cat /etc/debian_version
          10.13

and will be upgrading it soon to 11.x

          My /etc/network/interfaces

          .....
          auto eth0
          iface eth0 inet static
                  address 1aa.165.201.123
                  netmask 255.255.255.0
                  network 1aa.165.201.0
                  broadcast 1aa.165.201.255
                  gateway 1aa.165.201.254
                  post-up /sbin/ifconfig eth0:0 cc.105.79.38 netmask 255.255.255.255 broadcast cc.105.79.38

                  post-up /sbin/ifconfig eth0:3 ff.98.174.106 netmask 255.255.255.255 broadcast ff.98.174.106
                  post-up /sbin/ifconfig eth0:2 g.196.43.182 netmask 255.255.255.255 broadcast g.196.43.182

            I had many Deb10 to 11 that didn't "convert to use" ifupdown2
They were prob. installed as "pure server" (SSH managed).

But my "home server" i also use for Lady Heather diciplining , and needed X-windows.
            So it's a initially a Deb9 server , with additional x-windows installed , then upgraded to 10 , and 11

I have no idea if that was what caused the ifupdown2 to install, or even if it was installed on 10.
Just had a look at my old deb10 /etc/networking ... ifupdown2 was present before the upgrade to 11.
So i suppose it could be the removal of python2.x on deb11 , and that python3.x is more restrictive ...

If you see ifupdown2 in ie. /etc/networking or referenced as above, your current "interfaces" file will likely not work.

                @Gertjan

It might have been pulled in, when i installed iproute2.
I did that in order to play with some VRF "lookalike" on linux.
