I don't know how to upload the pic for my phone cam. For some reason it's cutting off the first letter on the screen. Google lens did a bad job of reading this
Anyone have ideas as to why it halts?

@imWACCo What is the hardware, exactly?
-
Yeah more info needed. But it looks like it could be a BIOS issue if it's passing incorrect resource values for the PCI bridges like that. Make sure it's running the current version.

Compaq Presario CQ5600Y
Because of it only having a 1xPCI, the intel NIC is in the video slot. In BIOS, video is set to onboard.

Does it fail identically every boot?
You might try the previous release to see if it doesn't trigger it: https://atxfiles.netgate.com/mirror/downloads/pfSense-CE-memstick-2.6.0-RELEASE-amd64.img.gz

Try the 2.6 image. Try disabling as much as you can in the BIOS. Anything unrequired, soundcards, parallel port, firewire etc.
Those nvidia chipsets can behave oddly though.

I don't know, HP only shows me "CQ3100" and no downloads for that other model
Also, it has 2+4=6gb RAM, from what I see, it will only take 4gb.
I got it yesterday for $40, with keyboard, monitor, and mouse
-
Try with only one stick of RAM then. Make it as basic as possible.

Yes, lots of testing to do. Not even had it 24h yet. Getting old SUX, I'll get to it, but I was hoping something set off alarm bell to cut down on testing
-
Getting old does indeed suck.
We'd need to see more of the crash to know more there. Just the panic string is too generic to tell us much.
