Has anyone got Proxmox 8 or Debian 12.1 to install on the Dell Precision 5820 Xeon w2135 or similar device?
When installing Proxmox 8, it's only when set to install with console with nomodeset that the install is successful. However, the boot up never completes always stuck on snd_hda_intel 0000:b3:00.1 handle vga_switcheroo audio client.Debain 12.1 doesn't like UEFI; howeve, setting the bios to legacy and format drive as EXT4 still manage to format the drive UEFI because it had to add Grub to the drive. The result is the boot up doesn't complete either always stuck on /dev/sd1: cleaning

Well, I managed to have gotten Debian 12.1 to install despite little or no video...had to SSH in to save the day. I am close to finishing having installed Proxmox on top of Debian, then removing the kernel after adding PVE kernel...stuck now updating grub.

It turned out that the Dell has four PCIe bridges that were failing. So, it was returned yesterday and now shopping for another.
