      Hello

My use case: I have been traveling in Europe and wanted to watch YouTube TV.

It does not run from Europe in case you did not know :) (I did not!)

To work around I'd connect to my OpenVPN server, and disable Location services on my iPad and it'd work.

That's if I used my OpenVPN server.

But if I used TaleScale it would not work, because it would not get my home IP address.

I wonder if there is a way to set up TaleScale in a way to make this use case work?

      TIA

        Hi chudak,

I think you want to configure your pfsense as a tailscale "exit node":

        Tailscale docs:
        https://tailscale.com/kb/1103/exit-nodes/

        pfSense setting:
        exitnode.jpg

Not tried it myself but it looks like what you need.

Can you confirm that after connecting via TS with pfsense as a tailscale "exit node" you get your IP assigned the same as the pfsense box?

I hadn't tried it, but gave it a go.

              Here's what I did:

              1. In pfSense Tailscale config, tick "Advertise Exit Node" and then press "Save".
              2. In the Tailscale portal, select my pfSense machine and click "Machine Settings." -> "Edit Route Settings...." and switch on "Use as Exit Node".
              3. On my mobile device, with Tailscale active, select "Use exit node..." from the menu and select the pfSense machine".

After that, a green banner appears in the Tailscale mobile app saying "Using exit node" and my IP is showing as the internet IP of my pfSense box.

Seems to work fine, maybe check you did the same steps above?

                Thx for the reply

I did go through my TS sitting and finally was able to see a green banner on my iPhone and seems working fine now.

The real test would be if I were outside of the US, but it has to wait :)

@jonsed Yes this works great! There even is a TS app for AppleTV so you can actually virtually be "at home" even when you travel abroad with your AppleTV and are dependent on potentially dodgy hotel or ABnB routers. I use it all the time using my pfsense as an exit-node.
