PFsense monitoring (Centralized monitoring) over WAN

Hi Guys,
I'm curious on people's current setup and thoughts for PFsense monitoring. I'm aware of SNMP and Zabbix options but I'm currently looking into a monitoring solution which is outbound only from PFsenses to a centralized WAN location.
It seems most of SNMP/Zabbix configurations need the monitoring server to poll from/talk to the endpoints being monitoring. Rather than the agent itself talking outbound only to that server.
I could be wrong as it's a new project/research.
What monitoring solutions could be used that could talk to a centralized monitoring server. Heartbeats', Disk Space, Monitoring of services etc.
Any information/help is appreciated!

We have our own solution in the works but no ETA for that yet.
Currently I would setup VPNs from each and then use whatever tool works best you across that.
