Re: Upgrade pfsense CE 2.7.0 to 2.7.1

      Dear All,

When upgrade from 2.6.0 to 2.7.0 we need to uninstall third party packages first then re-install those package after upgraded (recommend by pfSense) so if I want to upgrade from 2.7.0 to 2.7.1 shall I follow the pervious method or I can upgrade right a way without uninstalling something?

      Installed packages:

      1. pfBlockerNG
      2. Zabbix Agent
      3. WireGuard
      4. TrafficTotal
      5. SystemPatches

      Regards,
      Sokeada

@sokeada The upgrade guide still says that is safer: https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/install/upgrade-guide-prepare.html#packages

Edit: I usually uninstall larger packages like pfBlocker and leave smaller one like Patches.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

@SteveITS thanks for the tips bro. I thought 2.7.0 & 2.7.1 base on the same freeBSD-14 would be fine. Anyways, I'll follow your tips by uninstalling the heavy one like pfBlocker, other should be fine right or should remove all except SystemPatches and zabbix agent?

It's generally safer to uninstall pkgs. If you've had issues upgrading before on that system I would uninstall them first.

However I have upgraded numerous systems without uninstalling any packages without issue.
