          went with "Reinstalling is the safest fix"

          running on iron/custom built rig, did a backup, complete reinstall, wipe drive, reinstall zfs, install 2.7.2, upgrade 23.09.1, and then a restore to get all my settings back.

          GUI is noticeably faster than before. Everything is working correctly.
