      Hello,
      i'm going to upgrade.
      I installed snort pfblocker and other plugins.
      Should i uninstall plugin before upgrade?
      Or should i disable them?
      If I will uninstall them I will need to reconfigure again.
      thanks a lot

        @reynold Per https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/install/upgrade-guide.html uninstalling is recommended. Packages by default keep their settings. A few like pfBlocker and Snort, have checkboxes to delete settings, but you have to check that box.

        Never upgrade packages before upgrading pfSense (per my sig).

        I usually uninstall "big" packages like pfB and Snort/Suricata, and leave smaller ones like System Patches. Any packages left will be upgraded during the upgrade.

        Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
        When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to reboot, or more depending on packages, and device or disk speed.

          @SteveITS
          That means that i can uninstall package and then I can re install them without loss of configuration?
          In case of pfblocker I won't lose access rules and geoip configuration for example?

            Yes, the config for packages will be retained unless you specifically select removing it.

            You should still backup your config so you can restore it if required.

              @reynold Specifically for pfBlocker:

              And yes, always back up. :)

                  @reynold yes as I recall it is. But as noted the default is to keep all settings during uninstall.
