Netgate stays in standby mode after a UPS power-fail shutdown order, how to configure a daily power UP ?
-
Hi,
I can't find how a Netgate could be set to power UP daily, because it's a life saver option. Here's the case I faced:
- on a power outage, after the battery has been used, the UPS finally ordered to shutdown (administratively OFF)
- upsmon on Netgate executed the automatic power-fail shutdown (visible in logs)
- so the Netgate (I have a 6100) went in standby mode (circle solid orange led)
- but the power outage stops a short time after the Netgate received the power-fail shutdown order, so the UPS quickly came back in normal state, and the UPS power output never really stops
- So the power went back in normal state, but the Netgate never restarted, because it never really lost power due to the short time period between the beginning of the automatic power-fail shutdown and the return of the electric current
That's why I need to set a daily power UP (in the bios), to be sure that at least the Netgate will finally boot himself and that it will not stay in standby mode indefinitely. That's a common PC bios option. But on a Netgate 6100, how to configure a daily power UP ?
Thanks you in advance.

There's no way to set scheduled power on on the 6100.
The only thing you could do there would be configure the UPS to always power down entirely after shutting down the client device(s).

Thanks you for your answer @stephenw10 it's appreciated.
I'll check if my UPS can be configured in this way.
Perhaps the need to configure daily power UP could be considered in a future Netgate roadmap.
Best regards. -
It's unlikely that will be possible on the 6100, the blinkboot bios doesn't have much customization ability. But perhaps that could be added to future devices.
