      Hi,

I am trying to get started with pfsense but for some reason I cannot get the installation started correctly.

Everything boots as normal from usb drive but then when the first Installation screen is shown It does not allow me to select "Install". I dont even get a chance to select anything, it just skips the blue prompt screen.

      screenshot

      I get the text:

      Starting cron.
Starting background file system checks in 60 seconds.

And after that it starts prompting for login

      FreeBSD/amd64 <Amnesiac> <ttyv0>
      login:

Have tested several different USB sticks and both Legacy and UEFI, and following pfsense images.

      • pfSense-CE-2.7.2-RELEASE-amd64.iso.gz
      • pfSense-CE-memstick-2.7.2-RELEASE-amd64.img.gz

      Hardware
      Motherboard: Z97I-Plus BIOS Ver. 2704
      CPU: I3-4130

Grateful for anyone who can point me in the right direction.

You should use the memstick image. Try redownloading the image and check the checksum. That looks like a bad image or bad write.

I had the same problem. For me, it was a faulty console cable that caused the exactly same issue. With a different console cable, the problem did not occur.
