      Hi all,

Im wondering if someone with more knowledge and experience with fibre cards could share some insight as to what I may be missing in not sure if it’s a driver issue, settings issue or compatibility issue (it is possibly a comparability issue as I can find a QLE 2464 listed on any free BSD compatibility documents) however pfsense is able to see the card on boot and so I’m wondering if drivers may be available or some settings that I may need to adjust for this card to be used as uplinks are not starting and the rear LEDs of the card are only display a water fall effect. Any advice would be much appreciated below are the os boot logs.

So the isp0-3 devices there? That a fibre-channel card as far as I can see. What are you trying to connect it to?

You could try setting hint.isp.N.ignore_nvram since it's showing an NVRAM error:
        isp0: invalid NVRAM header (55 aa 58)

Many thanks for your reply. Yes it is a fibre channel card I’m trying to use it as the main WAN uplink and the uplink to my switches using CISCO transceiver module's. I have tryed setting hint.isp.N.ignore_nvram through boot/device.hints which has returned the same error on reboot.

Hmm, I'm not sure if that card actually can be used for Ethernet. The isp(4) driver is for fibre channel (storage).

I think you are correct I’ve looked through the freeBSD website and have attempted to load the ISPFW firmware with no change the card does interface with freebsd but not as a network card, I’ll be moving this over to my true NAS system instead I think. What would your recommendation be for a 4 port fibre card to use in this circumstance. Many thanks for all your help it is very much appreciated.

The ixl (X710) Intel card we sell works well. I've also used older X520 based cards successfully.
