migrating from pfsnese ce 2.7 to netgate 8200 appliance
-
Hi,
we are currently using de pfsense ce 2.7 version with a simple firewall configuration and openvpn server with 3 remote users, we recently aquired the netgate 8200 appliance and wish to migrate the configuration that we have already working to the new device. My question is if this is possible because we already tried the restore function using a backup from the ce and it doesn't work

You should be able to import the config from CE as long as the version it came from is not newer than the Plus version installed on the 8200:
https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/releases/versions.htmlThe interfaces will almost certainly be different but it should just ask you to re-assign them when you import the config.

Hi,
thanks for your prompt reply according to your answer it should work but it isn't, I just tried for the third time with the same result, after I load the configuration backup file to the 8200 and restarted it gets hang up on the booting process, the 3 leds keep bilnking fast.
I attached the screenshot of the version screen of both devices.

What NICs does the CE device have? If it only has assigned NICs that actually do exist in the 8200 then it will just try to use them rather than asking you to reassign them.
Since you have Netgate hardware you can open a ticket with us and have the old config converted so it will import directly.
