Gateway IP address
-
I just upgraded from 2.6.0 to 2.7.0 then to 2.7.2. I had a number of issues after the 2.7.0 upgrade. I ended up having to use the certctl rehash to fix my issue.
During troubleshooting, one of the forum threads suggested to verify that there was a 'default' Gateway listed under 'Diagnostics -> Routes'. When I checked mine, I noticed that the IP address listed as 'default' does not match the 'WAN' IP address listed on my Dashboard 'Interfaces'. Should these match?

@pulsartiger Your WAN gateway is the next hop outside pfSense. Its IP would typically be similar to yours, for instance a WAN IP of x.x.x.24 and a WAN gateway of x.x.x.1, but the numbers will of course vary.
"default" just means, any packets that aren't local, or specifically routed somewhere, are sent to the default gateway.

Thanks. The first 2 numbers are the same XX.XX.xx.xx.

Yes the gateway is almost always inside the WAN subnet so most of the IP address will be the same.
