7100 1U OOB Management
-
I'm looking for a good solution for out-of-band management for 7100 1Us. We are currently using Cradlepoint IBR600C/900s as a secondary WAN connection, but it appears that the Cradlepoints don't support the SL CP210X chipset. Has anyone found a good solution for this?

Surprising they don't support it if it's Linux based. That's the only console option on the 7100-1U so you need something that can connect to it. If you have two 7100s in an HA pair you can cross connect them.

@stephenw10 I think it's linux based, but there's no way to go in and install custom drivers. If there was a DB9 or RJ45 serial port, then it would be just a matter of finding a supported converter. Unfortunately, since its UART is built into the appliance, there's not much else to do other than find some console server or similar device that supports that brand chipset. Unfortunately, I'm not having much luck yet as everything seems to support FDTI and sometimes Prolific.

Hmm, that driver is in-kernel for anything recent I've tested.
In OpenWRT 23.05 you might need to add the driver but it is supported:
