Netgate 4200 loses some configurations upon reboot
-
I just bought a Netgate 4200. I configured it for a PPoE fiber internet connection. After completing all the configurations and verifying connectivity, I made a change to the MTU setting. This change required a reboot. However, the reboot was unsuccessful because the blue LED kept flashing as if it couldn't complete the boot phase. I connected to the console to try to understand and saw that the prompt was asking me to configure VLANs and other interfaces such as WAN and LAN.
I configured the LAN so I could access via web GUI and then load the backup of the configuration I had made as soon as I was able to get an internet connection. The system rebooted, and I found myself in the exact same situation as before. Has this ever happened to anyone? What could have gone wrong?
At this point, I'm tempted to redo the entire configuration from scratch, but if I lose all the settings again, I risk doing all the work for nothing. -
@tommykx For reference there’s a category for Netgate hardware that @stephenw10 and others frequent.
I’d suggest a TAC ticket. Should be free since you’re getting started.
pfSense will prompt for interface (re)assignment if it sees a new interface.
Initially out of the box did it boot on its own or stop and prompt?
There is this: https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/backup/restore.html#console-configuration-history
