    Hello,

    I'm using the FRR package to do BGP. The BGP IPv6 session does not come online and appears as V 4. I think this is not normal. Is it possible for FRR to have a bug with IPv6?

    IPv4 Unicast Summary (VRF default):
    BGP router identifier x.x.x.x, local AS number xxxxxx vrf-id 0
    BGP table version 0
    RIB entries 0, using 0 bytes of memory
    Peers 2, using 27 KiB of memory

    Neighbor V AS MsgRcvd MsgSent TblVer InQ OutQ Up/Down State/PfxRcd PfxSnt Desc
    x.x.x.x      4     209533    191605       108        0    0    0 00:17:36     (Policy) (Policy) iFogV4
    x:x:x::x (Isn't the IPv6 neighbor here strange?) 4     209533         0         0        0    0    0    never       Active        0 iFogV6

    Total number of neighbors 2

    IPv6 Unicast Summary (VRF default):
    BGP router identifier x.x.x.x, local AS number xxxxxx vrf-id 0
    BGP table version 1
    RIB entries 1, using 192 bytes of memory
    Peers 1, using 13 KiB of memory

    Neighbor V AS MsgRcvd MsgSent TblVer InQ OutQ Up/Down State/PfxRcd PfxSnt Desc
    x:x:x::35 4     209533         0         0        0    0    0    never       Active        0 iFogV6

      Was this working and then failed?

      Has it ever worked with pfSense/FRR?

      Has it ever worked with anything?

        Yes, with IPv4 the BGP session is online and working. The BGP session over IPv6 never worked.

          BGP on the other side is working.

            With IPv4 I can see traffic in the GRE tunnel, with IPv6 no traffic appears.

              Do you see states opened for the BGP traffic? Do you see blocked traffic in the firewall log?

                I see BGP states with IPv4 but not with IPv6. I don't see blocked traffic in the IPv6 firewall logs for BGP. I think the FRR is not sending IPv6 packets to the network.

                  So you see it opening states outbound to the configured neighbour IPv4 address?

                    Yes, I see the BGP session opening sates via IPv4 but not IPv6.
