Upgraded Appliance, VOIP Audio broke
-
Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction, I've gone through the troubleshooting pages provided by Netgate for VOIP and Port Forwarding with no change.
We have an analog phone system. Our phone service provider installed an Adtran Total Access 908e, it gives us standard RJ-11 ports for our Analog phone system, and converts it to a VOIP signal when it leaves the building.
When this was installed 2 years ago, they gave me a list of ports to forward, It was pretty simple and immediately worked.
At that point we were using PFSense CE 2.4.4 on a old PC.
Fast forward to now. We decided to replace that setup with a 6100 Max. Its loaded with PFSense+ 23.09.01. I was able to import a backup of the original system and it brought everything in correctly. (I've poured over the rules to make sure nothing got crossed on the import)
However, now if we make an outgoing call, everything is good. If we have an incoming call, there is either no audio, or one way audio (where the caller cannot hear, but we can).
If i put the old system back in service the phones return to working.
I've read that no audio is typically a NAT problem, but I'm thrown by why the NAT rules work on one machine and not the other.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

For what it's worth. By setting my outbound rules up manually and having them use static ports, the issue seems to be resolved.
Why the old appliance did not need this, and the new one does, I do not know. But hey, it works now!
