Initial Configuration of New Out-Of-The-Box Netgate 2100 router - Cannot connect to the router

    Hello,

    Got my new 2100 router a couple of days ago. So far I have not been able to use it as I cannot connect to the router to set up the initial configuration. My laptop does not get any IP address from the router. There is no response when pinging192.168.1.1 addr. My laptop is not connected to any other device. The Blue light (Diamond) flashes slowly.
    Just wondering if anyone had this issue and if so, what resolution did they find.

      The most common issue that might present like that is a subnet conflict with the WAN.

      Is the WAN connected to something? If it's an existing router is it also using the 192.168.1.0/24 subnet?
      If so one of those subnets would need to be changed. You can do that console if you have a connection there:

      That should also show you what the current state i and make it much easier to diagnose the issue.

        Or just disconnect the wan and log into the pfSense. Then you can determine if that was the issue and also change the subnet.

          Thanks Stephenw10 & Jarhead for taking time to respond to my post. My issue is resolved now.
          All I wanted to do was to configure the Netgate 2100. So, the router was not connected on the WAN side. Just to my laptop on the LAN side. It turned out the culprit was my ethernet cable. Ever since the dial up modem era, I have been setting up my home LAN. I had never experienced a bad ethernet cable!! The one I was using now is a new one & fresh out of the box. I never suspected that this cable was the culprit.
