      Hi all.

I recently purchased a SG-1100. I've setup other Netgate appliances and have my own Dell Optiplex with Pfsense community edition that I'm using for personal use.

I just want to setup the SG-1100 like the personal one. When I login I get a bunch of stuff about Vlan configuration on the interfaces. I want to configure it as if it was a WAN interface and lan interfaces. Everything I see on documentation is vlan vlan vlan. Is there no way to configure it like a normal setup?

@packergeek The 1100 has a 3 port switch and uses VLANs to isolate the ports, similar to https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/solutions/netgate-2100/configuring-the-switch-ports.html.

If you have a config you want to migrate, open a (free) ticket and Netgate will convert the config file for you.

Otherwise ignore everything VLAN and just think of WAN and LAN.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

          @SteveITS Hi Steve,

Thanks for the info. I would like to create a 2nd lan with opt port but I can't seem to find any documentation on how to do this. On the personal one I just enabled the port and turned on the dhcp server on the newly created lan port. That doesn't seem to work the same on here.

@packergeek It’s the same. You can use OPT for an internal network. You do have to add firewall rules to allow/block what you want, e.g. DNS. Only LAN has default allow any rules.

You can also add the OPT port to the LAN interface in the switch config if you want two local ports for it without filtering between them.

              Steve

@stephenw10 is there a place to do this? I was able to add a lan dhcp server. But I don't see any guidance on how to do it on the SG-1100.

@packergeek if you’re trying to un-separate the port that is https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/solutions/sg-1100/configuring-the-switch-ports.html

I ran through all the steps in the guide but it didn't get me anywhere.

I run a Dell Optiplex with a 4 port HP nic card. It has wan configured 1st port and 2 lan networks running individual dhcp servers of 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.1.1 on 2nd and 3rd port. That's what I want for this. I have no interest in using a vlan based setup. Do I need to purchase something else or can this unit do this?

@packergeek if you want OPT to be a separate port, it is like that out of the box. Plug a cable into OPT and enable DHCP on it.
                      https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/solutions/sg-1100/opt-lan.html#dhcp-server

The 1100 is one switch, and uses VLANs to separate the ports. If you want the ports separate, just ignore all that, and treat them as separate ports.

Yup the ports are separated by default in the 1100. You should only need to enable DHCP on OPT and add firewall rules.
