Netgate 8200 SFP+ Modules
-
Dear Netgate 8200 friends I don't find a lot of information about the SFP Modules and compatibility online. "In addion, SFP+ devices based on the Intel(R) Ethernet Connection X552 and Intel(R)Ethernet Connection X553 do not support the following features:" - Speed and duplex auto-negoaotiation
- Wake on LAN
- 1000BASE-T SFP Modules
Below are some general guidelines for compatible SFP/SFP+ modules: - Intel-branded SFP+ SR/LR Dual Speed (1G/10G) optical modules.
- Intel-branded SFP+ DA twin-ax cables that comply with SFF-8431 v4.1 and SFF-8472
- v10.4 specificaons. Note: Limited to 10G link speed (no 1G support).
- Third party SFP+ DA twin-ax cables that comply with SFF-8431 v4.1 and SFF-8472 v10.4specificaons. Note: Limited to 10G link speed (no 1G support).
- SFP+ AoCs (Acve optical Cables). Note: Limited to 10G link speed (no 1G support).
- Third party SFP+ SR/LR dual speed 1G/10G) opcal modules
- SFP+ active copper cables
Specific known-working modules include: - Model / Part NumberDescripon

Note: Links at 1G, 2G is not supported
My ISP recommends Flexoptix and Netgate refers most to Finisar which is well known name but doesn't exist anymore. ISP: https://www.flexoptix.net/de/p-b1696-10-da.html?option875=1 What do you think doesn the Flexoptik also work with the Netgate 8200? Thank you for any help.

Most devices that are coded as Intel compatible will work. That is a BiDi module though so potentially less likely to work. No way to know 100%.
-
Do you have other recommendations? So BiDi is less likely to work? So I need to re-check again I knew there will be a "problem".
-
It's more unusual. It's unlikely anyone has tested it yet. There's a good chance it will just work fine though. Especially if you can use it in either the 1G combo or 10G ports.

hi hispeed have you found a solution, I am facing the same problem are you at isp init7 ? greetings

Sunday evening ;) and you ask me if I have Fiber7 this is one of the best jokes of this decade! Unfortunately not!
The question is from where are you then we can do a test because i have the hardware at home . I bought a SFP Module, and bought a 8200 Netgate and a Fiber cable and I can't use that stuff at the moment.... . @hispeed
 I have fiber7 I have an intel x553 with flexoptix 10G SFP+ BIDI LR
 10 km, ᵀˣ1330 / ᴿˣ1270 nm, LC-Simplex , but I don't have a link and I've been trying all day to get this working

Sounds very similar to my one which I have here: P.B1696.10.AD-MSA01 ?
 MSA Standard configuration?
-
@hispeed said in Netgate 8200 SFP+ Modules: P.B1696.10.AD-MSA01 yes exactly P.B1696.10.AD-MSA01 but i have tried everything, msa default or intel config or cisco no matter what, i get no link

Is it supposed to link at 10G? How does the module appear in the ifconfig -vvvoutput?
