      Hello:
I keep losing the LAN port on my 4100 firewall.(i am new to PFsense) It has been working fine for a month now since I got it no issues. The WAN side still has lights and I am able to connect to it when I plug my laptop into LAN1. LAN1 is also used when connecting to switch. After some looking around on a guess I cleared the DHCP records then plugged LAN1 back to the switch and all the sudden the firewall started working again. Could there be an issue with a new update? Like I said it's been working fine with no issues until now. So after I cleared the DHCP records it worked for about 12hrs or so now it seems to be down again. I don't want to have to keep clearing DHCP records all time now.

Does anyone have any incite on this?

Have you just applied an update? To what?

When it stops you actually lose link? No LEDs on LAN1 on the 4100?

Can it be restored simply by unplugging and reconnecting the link cable without clearing the DHCP leases?
The DHCP server shouldn't make any difference to a NIC link like that.

What do you see logged when you get back in?

What link speed does it usually connect at? Is the link to the switch via a long cable?

I would guess this is a link negotiation issue with the switch in some way.

        Steve
