I am on RC 24.03.r.20240416.0005 but I have no clue if this is related to the RC and no easy enough way to find out.
I noticed the following problem, that one IPv4 Upstream gateway doesn't come up again after rebooting it, while an almost exact other one comes up with no problem. Both are *Senses running on the oracle free tier connected via WireGuard. They are the last ones in this screenshot:

If I try to ping it via GUI the gateway is reachable so I guess the problem has to be something else. WireGuard shows a handshake. If I save and apply the interface locally, gateway-monitoring starts to work again. Maybe someone like @johnpoz has an idea for me to diagnose this further.

If I go to diagnostic and ping or traceroute, I can not select a gateway, only a source address, right? So knowing where it actually leaves can only be done with a packet capture?

But my problem seems to be related only to the external monitoring. If I monitor the gateway address itself, there is no problem! I then changed the gateway-monitoring address for both but the problem persist with the latter gateway.

I am calling @johnpoz again for help. I might even create a bug report but it is odd, that it is working for almost all gateways other than one.

I removed the external monitoring address, so that the gateway comes up again. I created the monitoring address as a gateway on that interface too, just for pinging, it still doesn't come up on its own. Maybe I have to many gateways for pfSense?

PS: Maybe upstream gateway is not the right term, but I will not change the heading because it will make pictures disappear.
