      I'm running PFSense+ 23.05.1-RELEASE (amd64) on Netgate 1537.

      In the GUI, version 23.09.1 is shown as the next available firmware. If I'm upgrading through the GUI, is incremental upgrading required to get to the latest version (24.03)?

      Otherwise, if I create a USB flash-bootable installer with 24.03, can I upgrade directly to latest that way?

      (It looks like only 24.03-beta is available for download as a USB bootable-installer).

        @rcarr yes you need to go through 23.09 first because of process changes. And yes you can install and restore from backup.

        The installer’s version is not relevant to the pfSense version. The installer is in beta.

        Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
        When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

          Yup you can install 24.03 and recover the config during the install to get there directly.

            @SteveITS

            For example, the most recent memstick installer I got from support was named:

            pfSense-plus-memstick-24.03-BETA-amd64-20240312-0600.img

            which suggests that it's not 24.03-release.

              @rcarr that’s the version of the installer, not the pfSense it installs.

                Hmm, that isn't the installer. That seems like a mistake. I would double check that's actually the file you have.

                You can install the 24.03-beta from that and then upgrade it to release if you need to though.

                  If you download the Net Installer from the store you should currently get: pfSense-plus-installer-24.02-BETA2-aarch64-20240312-0600

                  That will install 24.03-release.
