Fresh Install is failing to establish WAN connection
-
I have a fresh install of pfSense 2.7.2 and have specified that the WAN connection should be DHCP in the setup wizard with all defaults in all other fields. The WAN link is up and yet no internet connection is being established. Also, the only dynamic gateway that is created is for IPv6 and it is failing with 100% packet loss.
I've tried manually adding an IPv4 gateway but it never gets a connection, and the logs show no activity for the IPv4 gateway at all, even if I restart the gateway service.
I also have a TP-Link router and it can make a WAN connection without issue on DHCP.
How can I establish an internet connection from pfSense? I assume I'm missing something basic, but I can't figure out what.

@legit pfSense will connect with DHCP by default on a fresh install, if you haven't changed anything, you're not missing anything.
Did you use the setup wizard after install or set it up manually?
Are you sure your ISP doesn't have any other requirements? (ie vlan on WAN)
Look at the TP link WAN connection, anything in there that's not in pfSense?
You say the WAN link is up, do you receive an IP address? Status/Interfaces. -
So, I'm an idiot.
I never thought to just restart my modem. That fixed the problem without any configuration changes.
