Netgate 2100 speedtest at 500Mbps when Asus RT-AC88U at 820Mbps

Hi,
I recently upgraded my internet to 900MBps up/down and bought a new Netgate 2100 to handle the connection. However the average tests are around 500Mbps.
I swapped out the router and put in my old Asus for a test and I got the max speeds expected.

I have disabled gateway monitoring.
Also disabled hardware checksum offload

These are the only options I could find recommened to improve performance.

Please help, this is an expensive router being outperformed by a old Ausus Router / AP. It doesn't make sense.

@homeuserUK The 2100 does not handle more than about 500 - 550 Mbps traffic when firewalling and NAT’ing. The CPU is not rated to cope with more than that. The “benchmark” figures from Netgate are in EXTREMELY optimized setups that is not possible to reach in real life because you need things like NAT.
You should always look at the IMIX numbers as they are more close to actual real life.

Sorry to “ruin” your purchase - I hope you still have time to return it.

@homeuserUK The CPU in the 2100 is a very slow dual core arm (way less CPU power than fx. A raspberry pi 4).
To handle Gbit at wire speed you will need a Netgate 4100/4200 class device.

Thanks for the fast responses, better than my connection :)

Sadly this means I need to get a different box and install pfSense, the 4200 is very expensive for my needs, Will start looking for generic boxes with that level of specs to build my own.
