      Hi,

      I have been running pfSense as a VM on a dedicated server in a datacenter and i'm very satisfied with this solution.

      Next to the pfSense in the datacenter, I also plan on replacing the existing router/firewall appliance with a pfSense at the local office.
      This will most likely also be VM or 3the party hardware.

      When I look at the appliances, it mention it comes with pfSense+ and lifetime TAC.

      What is the difference between pfSense CE & pfSense+?

      Can a yearly TAC subscription be used on multiple instances?

      Kind regards,
      Randy

        @randydeb hey there,
        differences > look here https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/general/plus.html
        I used CE for quite a time, was happy with it. Then changed hardware to netgate appliance (with "plus")...even happier with it. It comes with some nice things (like snapshots) that are not available for CE.
        I guess (as almost always" that ONE license is to be used for ONE client machine)...but some netgate ppl will comment with much more wisdom and insight on that. :)

          Yes the TAC subscription is against the specific NDI of a single install.

            Notably, the NDI changes when network cards are changed.

            Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
            When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.
