Due to price of CenturyLink and them just increasing my rate, even though I was lifetime, I decided to switch to Cox due to the price that was written by a salesman.

I've got it all ready to go. I can take a ethernet cable and connect to the box they put in with the fiber connecting to it (whatever it is called). Connecting to my laptop it works fine and I can get out and see all.

I want to now connect that ethernet cable directly to my pfSense computer. Using the modem they provided, I was able to gather all the WAN information.

I've looked online for solutions of how to go about this, but I haven't found anything that seems to apply to me.

      Some some questions:

      1. Can I configure pfSense to work with the ethernet cable coming from the box that has the Fiber connection?
      2. Do I have to set the modem into bridge mode if I cannot do question #1?
      3. In the WAN settings of pfSense, what do I put in the fields?

I don't want to blow away the configuration I have for the existing pfSense since it works with the ethernet plugging in directly into my pfSense box instead of using their modem. But I do want to give Cox a chance to see if the speed will be good, as I work from home while kids stream and play games online.

      Thanks, Michael

        !. YES
        2. Yes
        3. DHCP

Be careful with Cox...they're known for padding their account receivable...

@NollipfSense - I might have not been totally clear, on the Fiber Household Terminal (Brand: NOKIA, Model: G-010G-T), I'd like to connect the Ethernet cable from it directly to the pfSense computer.

@schumacher777 You may need to add the supplied router MAC address into Interfaces / WAN in order to not use the supplied router.

You don't have to put the modem in bridge mode. But doing so avoids double NAT which is preferred.
