      Hi everyone,

Whilst doing some maintenance on my home lab while recovering from surgery I guess I wasn't in my right mind and accidentally deleted the VM I had running PfSense Plus (ironically, I was intending on cleaning things up so I could get regular VM snapshots going). OK no worries, I can create a new VM and reinstall pfSense. Except... I can now only install the CE version, as my recreated VM has different MAC addresses on the virtual NICs and thus my Plus license has disappeared into the ether :(

I've tried replacing the MAC addresses with what I thought were the originals for that VM but I don't seem to be having any luck there. I've tried a fresh install again with those MACs but no joy (but I seem to be getting the same Netgate Device ID between MAC changes?), also no joy trying to add my activation key again (pfSense accepts it, but there is no option to upgrade to Plus again).

I did receive my pfSense Plus token last year when free upgrades were available. I still have my order number, activation key, etc. but I am wondering... am I now up the proverbial creek with regards to the Plus license? Is there any way to somehow recover it?

Many thanks for reading my tale of stupidity.

@stevious pretty sure the ndi is more than just the mac address. I would contact tac with your current ndi from your vm.

Or @stephenw10 might be able to just fix it for you..

@stevious Based on Netgate posts if you contact support they will move your license to the new NDI. However it may be a one time or limited thing, I'm unclear.

Eventually though the home/lab licenses will need to be paid since it's no longer free. So you might consider CE anyway.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

Yup TAC can do it. Or if you send me your NDI (privately) in chat and I can check it.
