GRE failing (requires reboot)

24.03-RELEASE on Azure

I have a GRE tunnel over IPSec to another pfSense box. All works well.

If the IPSEC tunnel drops, GRE will not function until I reboot the firewall.

I can restart all the services, or ifconfig gre0 down/up, or disable and enable the GRE interface but only a reboot brings it back.

Any tips or pointers on how I can dig into this or resolve?
