      Hello,

I could use some help here. I used the store to download the pFSense Online Network Installer from the store and placed it on a USB stick using etcher. I get the Netgate to boot from the installer just fine. The issue I'm having is reaching the internet. I only see 4 NIC's which I don't think is correct. I only see ix0, ix1, ix2 & ix3 my understanding these are the SFP ports and not the Eth port. For some reason, I don't see the other ports. I did configure the IP Address and stuff for wan and plan. I tried every port and none of them seem to be ix0-ix3.

@gnycbsa Hmm, ports 1-8 are a switch. Not sure how the Installer handles those... @stephenw10? Or ask Netgate support, it should be a free ticket.

https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/solutions/xg-7100/io-ports.html actually says ETH1-8 "are [all] on a single VLAN uplinked to the LAN interface on the firewall" but I thought ETH1 was its own VLAN, for WAN, as also indicated. I haven't worked on a 7100 though so can't check.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

Yeah I would open a ticket about that. It should recognise the 7100 and setup the switch and VLANs etc so you can connect out on the default interfaces.

If that's not happening then it isn't recognising the hardware for some reason. That might mean the data passed by the bios is incorrect.

Also important to note is that coming from a pfSense version that old probably means it has an old Coreboot version and that will need to be updated. That must be done in an older pfSense version, 23.05.1 or earlier.

          Steve
