UPNP not detected across 2 private LAN interfaces
-
This is a common question, but I've not seen a definitive answer:
I have a media server running Kodi on 192.168.1.0/24 network.
I have my TV running on 192.168.2.0/24 network.Pinging hosts between these networks works fine. However, my TV cannot pick up the Kodi media server, which I expect due to Kodi UPnp. (I tested Kodi on same network and was detectable)
LAN firewall rules below:
My other network, running on a different interface.

@kirenpillay Try installing the Avahi pckage and connect the two subnets with Avahi.

@jeff3820 Hi Jeff
Is this recognized by pfSense or is that a self-standing solution?
-
No, more based on common sense.
Because : fire up Google and enter avahi upnp
Read the first 5 or so top most answers, and you will start to believe that 'Avahi' is the solution to your question.Btw : it's a pfSense (Netgate) package, so Netgate has added it "for a reason" ^^
edit Grrrrr : I forgot about the most abvious one : https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/packages/avahi.html

@kirenpillay said in UPNP not detected across 2 private LAN interfaces:
more specific terms
"upnp" is pretty generic (common) indeed - half the planet seems to have a play box thus huge network problems.
But "avahi" is very, enormously unique. Throw this one in any search engines out there and you'll know what it is, does, why it exists. True, what is does is rocket science for the most common mortals, but you're not one them, these days are over. You've installed pfSense ^^
