    Hi,

Is it possible to install the latest software update (24.03 and above) on older Netgate models?

    Thanks.

      @Tiger-0

Isn't there a list in the the pfSense documentation that shows what models can use what pfSense version ?

No "help me" PM's please. Use the forum, the community will thank you.
Edit : and where are the logs ??

@Tiger-0 It depends. A few have dropped off but normally Netgate tests new releases on all models. A few really old ones still run CE I think. When a model is removed it is noted in the release notes.

As I recall the 1000 can't run FreeBSD 14 so had dropped off. The 3100 is 32 bit and FreeBSD support is ending, but as noted in the release notes 24.03 works but a few packages are unavailable.

I don't recall one...? Might be in there somewhere. They have a list of models and a list on Netgate.com of EOL/life cycle, which just means they aren't supported and won't have replacement parts.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

@stephenw10 , no model in particular. I just need an official article of some sort stating that software updates are still support older models.

I've seen the ones from Netgate docs that were mentioned by @SteveITS:

            1. https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/releases/23-01.html
            2. https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/releases/24-03.html

Just curious if there is a list which @Gertjan claims :/

There is only the EoL doc here: https://www.netgate.com/support/product-lifecycle

Other than that the release notes include devices that specifically cannot run that version. For example the SG-1000 cannot run 23.01 or newer:
              https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/releases/23-01.html#errata-known-hardware-issues

That's the only specific device to date. The 3100 is EoL and at some point will become difficult/impossible to build for but it still runs 24.08 at this point. Some packages are no available for it as they no longer build.
