CARP with a provider giving the primary address over DHCP and a routed subnet
-
Hi there,
Just a quick question if I may.
We have a provider that gives us a primary address over DHCP which they state they need our MAC address to "reserve", and then a subsequent routed /29 subnet.
I would like to use 2 pfsense boxes on this link.
It looks like I may need to spoof the MAC address of the existing Watchguard on this link to obtain the IP address from the main DHCP negotiation, but (a) if I do this on both WAN interfaces of a CARP pair won't that mean I have issues there? (b) will the DHCP negotiation on the secondary CARP pair take place if the primary pfsense goes down, and (c) how will the associated routed subnet that (I assume) is linked to the DHCP-MAC pairing at the provider be passed through to the secondary box?
