      Hi,

I am wanting to setup a proxy server for filtering unsuitable web content on a public wireless network.

As I don't have control over setting up a proxy server in clients browsers, I think i need something that sits in front of the current router or replaces it.

Is this something that PFsense would be suitable for?

I am going to be using a poweredge server for this, so there should be no issues with hardware limitations

Yes, pfSense supports transparent proxy filtering with squid and squidguard.
