      So . This will be a thread I'm sure a million have seen.

      Right now I have a Pfbox consisting of an Old pc with a p4 2.5ghz , 640 mb rambus memory  :P , 160 gb 7200 rpm , Has 2 Giga cards and works great.

      Im trying to go green though and creating a purpose built box for the application based on this board;
      http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813153150

      Will this work for me ? Does it have the throughput abilities I need? Are those lans any good? I am unfamiliar with them

      This looks Ideal for my application… Home network , 5 x-box 360's (Media Center Extender feature used a lot), 5 Laptops ,2 HTPC's, 2 Network Printers , 1 Mega HTPC which is loaded with tv tuners and stays 24/7 torrenting, tons of open connections, and I mean tons !
      Dir-655 wireless N gigabit router running as a wap, DHCP and everything else turned off.

      Im trying to go green though and creating a purpose built box for the application based on this board;

      Thanks in advance for your advice.

        Hey James,

        You haven't said anything about the throughput and the amount of money you're willing to spend. A standard PC with mATX or M ITX board, Intel E7200 and 80+ power supply uses only about 35W (idle). How much power does you configuration pull on energy? Maybe it differences about 10W? On yearly base 10W would save you around € 15,- on energy costs (in the Netherlands, based on 330 days/24 hours in a year). Throughput, especially with Intel NIC's, is a lot better compared to the VIA board. You can also use Realtek 3911D NIC's. Lower costs, but also (a lot) less throughput and less stability. I don't know anything about running this Jetway mainboard with Pfsense, but reading the forum can tell you that Realtek isn't exacly a favourite…
